Phase 2 of our acoustically isolated building underneath the Westway Flyover involved the complete remodelling of the temporary gym in Bay 42 to include a new science block and two additional classrooms. It also gave us a chance to re-evaluate some of the previously completed elements and redesign them to suit the school’s changing needs. Metsec Beams loaded onto the existing columns below ensure that the structure remains tight to the underside of the motorway. Services are routed through the lattice beams at high level with the ceiling pushed upward in between. Acoustic baffles, lights and ventilation units are slotted into the maximised ceiling areas.
